Rotundum participated in this year’s “Neurotology opinions” congress. The numerous visitors experienced the newest possibilities for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with benign positional vertigo (BBPV). Rotundum delights users with its smooth operation, even of heavy patients. The mobility and lightweight construction, is ideally suited for the external visite, for example in retirement homes.
What is the Rotundum chair used for?
If small crystals become dislodged in the inner ear and enter the semi-circular canals, the benign paroxysmal positioning vertigo (BPPV) develops. There the crystals cause the inner ear to send false signals to the brain and the patient suffers from dizziness at certain movements of the head. The crystals can neither be surgically removed nor treated with medication.
The only option is so-called repositioning maneuvers: The patient is seated in a rotary chair and brought to specific positions. The maneuvers make use of gravity to guide the crystals back to the chamber where they belong. The dizziness is gone.
The repositioning maneuvers can be effectively performed using the specially designed ROTUNDUM rotary chair.
